Iranian American playwright Michael Shayan pays tribute to his mother and her journey from Tehran to "Tehran-geles" in his one-man show, "avaaz." Set during Nowruz, the Iranian New Year, "avaaz" is an experience of joy, celebration and rebirth guided by main character Roya, played by Shayan. Learn how "avaaz" allowed Shayan to reclaim his queer, Jewish and Iranian identities on stage.
